THERAPUTIC LASER TREATMENT

Therapeutic laser can be used to stimulate acupuncture points without inserting needles. This is often referred to as laser acupuncture.

The laser provides a gentle light stimulus to carefully selected acupuncture points, allowing me to incorporate acupuncture principles while offering a completely needle-free approach. Research into laser acupuncture has investigated its use for a range of conditions, including pain and musculoskeletal problems.

For some patients, I may use therapeutic laser on its own. For others, I may combine it with acupuncture or other techniques, depending on their individual needs.

I select the wavelength, dose and treatment approach according to the individual patient, the area being treated and the reason they have come to see me.

My aim is to use therapeutic laser as part of a personalised treatment plan, rather than taking a one-size-fits-all approach.

How Does Therapeutic Laser Work?

Therapeutic laser, also known as photobiomodulation (PBM), is a non-invasive treatment that uses carefully selected wavelengths of red or near-infrared light to stimulate biological processes within the body.

Unlike surgical lasers, therapeutic lasers use light at much lower levels and are designed to stimulate cells rather than cut, burn or damage tissue. The light can penetrate into the tissues and interact with specific molecules within our cells, helping to influence cellular activity.
